What is Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a medical alternative to the approach of diseases in a natural way, a non-invasive way to address health conditions at their roots. Homeopathy is derived from the Latin “similia similibus curentur” – meaning “like cures like”. It is based on the principle that the body can heal itself by producing the same symptoms as those experienced by the ailment.

Homeopathic medicines can be used on their own or in combination with other treatments or supplements, they are molecule size doses of natural substances derived from body systems, plants, minerals, or even toxic substances. Due to its dilution process, homeopathic remedies are safe, non-toxic and cannot be overdosed like conventional drugs.

Homeopathy is used for the treatment of a wide number of acute and chronic diseases and can be used long-term without side effects or negative impacts to the immune system or damage to the organs.

Resistance to Change

Staying in a situation which makes you feel comfortable and in which your ability and determination are not being challenged is tempting and while this comfort zone feels safe and familiar it is also preventing you from personal growth and a life full of new experiences and fulfillment

It can be very difficult to find the motivation to initiate changes, wishing for things to be different without making changes creates a string of missed opportunities and if you always do what you’ve always done, you always get what you’ve always gotten.

Flexibility is the ability to make changes and to adapt, to evaluate and explore different options. to consider new approaches when we find ourselves in changing, difficult or undesirable positions. A universal characteristic of insanity is inflexibly doing the same thing over and over while hoping for a different outcome.

Resistance to change is unwillingness to adapt to new circumstances or ways of doing things. It can happen with individuals, relationships, or within organizations. There are many reasons for resistance, but at its heart, resistance is rooted in fear of the unknown

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” Albert Einstein.

Our Relationship with Micro-organisms

The number of micro-organisms living within the average human adult body are estimated to outnumber human cells ten to one. They are found anywhere in and on our bodies but are most concentrated in the digestive system, the gut flora. This gut flora has a dynamic and continuous effect on our immune system.

In order to understand how changes in normal bacterial populations affect us or are affected by disease we must consider lifestyle, nutrition, personal hygiene, exposure to stress, pollution and the environment we live in. Just as the human mind allows a person to develop a concept of intellectual self, the immune system provides a concept of the biological self.

Exposure to bacteria and/or viruses and our reaction to these invaders or their transmutations will depend on the health of our microbial environment and our mental, emotional state. Microbes in our gut are connected to our well-being and are the biggest defenders of our health.

The Comfort of a Full Belly

The comfort of a full belly refers to the feeling of satisfaction and contentment that comes from having eaten enough food to feel satiated. This feeling can be both physical and psychological, as the body is nourished, and the mind is reassured that there is enough food available

.

The comfort of a full belly is also associated with feelings of well-being, happiness, and security. It can provide a sense of stability and predictability in a world where many things are uncertain. However, overeating or consuming unhealthy foods in excess can have negative health consequences. Therefore, while the comfort of a full belly can be a wonderful feeling, it is important to prioritize health and nutrition in food choices.

7 Surprising Health Benefits of Beer

Beer is one of the oldest beverages in the world and beer recipes can be found in Egyptian tombs, Mesopotamian archeological sites, and Babylonian texts. Today, beer is found in grocery stores and breweries around the world.

Beer has been around for thousands of years, and its ingredients – water, barley, hops, and yeast – all contain nutrients that can be beneficial to human health. However, it is important to note that excessive alcohol

consumption can have serious negative health consequences. It is recommended that women consume no more than one alcoholic drink per day, and men no more than two. With that in mind, let’s explore the potential health benefits of moderate beer consumption.

  1. May lower the risk of heart disease

Several studies have found that moderate beer consumption may help lower the risk of heart disease. One study of over 200,000 people found that moderate beer drinkers had a 31% lower risk of heart disease compared to non-drinkers. This may be due to beer’s high levels of antioxidants, which can help reduce inflammation and prevent the formation of blood clots

  •   May reduce the risk of stroke

Moderate beer consumption has also been linked to a lower risk of stroke. A        study of over 11,000 people found that those who drank one beer per day had a    20% lower risk of stroke compared to non-drinkers. This may be due to beer’s  ability to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation.

  1. May improve bone health

Beer contains high levels of silicon, a mineral that is important for bone health. Several studies have found that moderate beer consumption may help increase           bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. However, it’s important to note that excessive alcohol consumption can actually weaken bones and increase the risk of fractures.

  1. May lower the risk of diabetes

Moderate beer consumption has been linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. One study of over 70,000 women found that those who drank moderate amounts of beer had a 30% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to non-drinkers. This may be due to beer’s ability to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce inflammation.

  1. May improve brain function

Several studies have found that moderate beer consumption may improve cognitive function and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. One study of over 11,000 people found that those who drank one beer per day had a 29% lower  risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease compared to non-drinkers.

  1. May reduce the risk of certain cancers

Beer contains several antioxidants that may help reduce the risk of certain     cancers. One study of over 38,000 men found that moderate beer consumption   was associated with a lower risk of kidney cancer. Another study found that moderate beer consumption was associated with a lower risk of prostate cancer.

  1. May boost the immune system

Beer contains several vitamins and minerals that are important for the immune   system, including vitamin B, zinc, and selenium. These nutrients can help support the immune system and reduce the risk of infections.

It is important to choose beer that is high-quality and made with natural ingredients. Many commercial beers contain additives and preservatives that can have negative health effects. Look for craft beers made with organic ingredients to ensure you’re getting the most health benefits possible.

Beer is an enjoyable drink and taken in moderate amounts may have positive effects on health. A traditional diet of beer and fresh foods may be better than the highly promoted soft drinks and convenience foods.

All alcohol carries the potential for dependency. Alcohol is an addictive substance, so people with a family history of addiction should be cautious with drinking beer or any other alcohol. Furthermore, heavy drinking eliminates most health benefits of beer, making addiction a double-edged sword.

Health Benefits of Sulfur

green leafy vegetable

After calcium and phosphorus, sulfur is the third most abundant mineral in the body. It is concentrated mostly in muscles tissue, skin and bones. A shortage of sulfur contributes to loss of elasticity in connective tissues and cartilage leading to stiff muscles, painful joints, sagging skin and wrinkles.

Sulfur is also needed for insulin production, detoxification on a cellular level and is part of one of the most important anti-oxidants the body produces – glutathione. Glutathione cannot work without sulphur.

Getting enough sulphur in the diet can be challenging, since there is a transition away from traditional foods such as bone broth for soups and stews from organically raised animals. A good alternate source is MSM (34% sulfur by weight), known for reducing pain and inflammation and is widely used for arthritic conditions.

Sulfur is in almost all raw foods, especially in leafy green vegetables, raw milk and beer, coffee and port wines.  Due to food storage, transportation, processing, cooking, excessive washing and drying, the amount of available MSM is often reduced are lost. To get the most benefits, the foods must be raw or minimally heated and processed.

With its amazing anti-allergenic and anti-parasitic properties MSM is also a natural, safe histamine inhibitor without the negative side effects of traditional anti-histamines.

Homemade Sauerkraut in 3 Days

You can make sauerkraut in your own kitchen with little effort.

Start by shredding the cabbage and placing it in an earthenware crock. Pack it down tightly and cover the cabbage with boiling water.

Once the water has cooled add a tablespoon of salt and place it on top, then place a slice of rye bread on top of the mass. Cover the crock with a towel and keep it in a warm place at room temperature.

At the end of three days uncover the crock and remove the salt which stays on top and the slice of bread. You can substitute a large glass jar if a crock is not available. After three days you will have your own delicious, nutritious, healthy, homemade sauerkraut, which is superior to the store-bought, mass-produced variety. Once complete move the sauerkraut to a cool location.

Candida Saliva Test

saliv

Do you have Candida? There is a simple test you can do at home to find out.

You may want to put a glass of water in the bathroom or on your night table the night before you wish to do the test just to remind yourself not to brush your teeth prior to spitting into the glass.

When you first wake up in the morning, before you put anything into your mouth, work up some saliva and deposit it into a clear glass filled halfway of water. After about 15 to 30 minutes, look through the side of the glass if there are any strings or deposits below the waterline.

If you do NOT have any yeast or candida concerns, your saliva should stay at the top of the glass and will eventually dissipate.

If you have candida, the test should look like the picture above. You may have all or only one of the elements shown here.

Bacteria and Decay

The life of bacteria is built around food. These micro-organisms don’t have traditional mouths to feed, but they eat, they digest, and they excrete waste as they break down their food into its more elemental components to facilitate absorption. We need decay to break down dead matter into basic substances to provide nutrients for new plants, to feed our soil, and promote life.

Unlike bacteria, which are unicellular organisms the primary decomposer in many eco-systems is fungi and while bacteria are restricted to growing and feeding on the surfaces of organic matter, fungi can penetrate organic matter by releasing enzymes to break down the decaying material, after which it is absorbed as a natural nutrient.

Amylase Enzymes for Carbohydrate Digestion

Carbohydrates are one of the basic food groups which include sugars, fibers and starches – found in grains, vegetables, fruits, milk and other dairy products. The digestion of carbohydrates begins the moment food enters your mouth. The saliva secreted from the salivary glands adds moisture to food as it is chewed and releases an enzyme called amylase.

Among the digestive enzymes, amylase is unique in that its effects are observed faster than the other enzymes such as lipase for fat digestion and protease for protein digestion. This is because amylase comes from two distinct parts of your body: the salivary glands in the mouth and the pancreas. As amylase is released it begins the breakdown of carbohydrates into simple sugars that the body can use for energy.

When carbohydrates reach the stomach, no chemical breakdown occurs because the amylase enzyme does not function in the acidic conditions of the stomach. As the partially broken-down carbohydrates enter the small intestine it is broken down further by the next set of amylase enzymes, this time released by the pancreas. The final result is glucose, which moves on into the bloodstream to be used for energy. Glucose is the preferred type of fuel for the brain and nervous system.

An inability to effectively break down carbohydrates may cause heightened feelings of fatigue and constant cravings for sweet foods due to large spikes and decreases in blood sugars because the body cannot efficiently get the energy that it normally would from carbohydrates. Amylase levels can be naturally increased by adding enzyme-rich foods like sauerkraut, raw honey, mango, papaya and avocado.

Daydreaming …

Daydreaming about the future is the first step to planning and creating an outline of what would be the ideal outcome – the perfect life. Creating positive images in your mind is the foundation of goals, just like a blueprint it is mapping out the road to success. Unless you know where you’re going every step can either take you closer or like a ship without a sail, without a purpose and without a destination, is lost at sea.

Dreams and goals make a person determined and disciplined. It gives meaning to life and sets a framework for the future. Setting goals is necessary to earn riches and fame. Knowing that there are dreams that you want to accomplish or achieve or knowing that there are things you want to do to get there, serve as stimuli. The key word here is “want”. You have to want to go after your dreams. If you dread it, it’s not a dream, it’s a task.

Life is often moving too fast, and there are too many interesting things and distractions competing for our attention. Daydreaming is the place where the mind can relax and imagine a future without limitations and with unrestricted potentiality.

Spiders and Snakes

The fear of spiders (arachnophobia) and Snakes (ophidiophobia) and other creepy things can easily cause discomfort and fear. This is a reasonable response, but there is a difference if this fear becomes intense and irrational, it may be a debilitating phobia and can impact an individual’s life, causing anxieties and intense discomfort.

Spiders: In many people, the fear of spiders elicits a “disgust response. We know many species of spiders are poisonous and bite, therefore, a natural response is to feel fear and avoid the spider. People with severe arachnophobia have such an extreme aversion to spiders that they may be afraid to go into their basement or garage because a spider may be present.

Snakes: Since snakes are often depicted as threatening or dangerous, a fear of snakes is considered a given – who wouldn’t be afraid of something that can kill you with one bite? However, if you find you’re unable to function in your life or that you lose all control at the mere mention of a snake, you may be dealing with more than just the healthy respect a wild predator deserves.

Phobias are mediated by a part of the brain called the amygdala. This part of the brain scans incoming information for areas it deems dangerous, and when it spots one, triggers the fight or flight response.  The fact is human beings can become phobic of anything. All it needs is high anxiety paired with an object. It is just unpleasant and unnecessary, and you can overcome your fear of spiders and snakes with hypnosis

Weight Loss Starts in the MInd

It takes the right attitude to commit to any important decision – nothing happens until you take that first step – until you make a conscious decision to initiate some of the changes. Any possible distraction or interference should be

eliminated before starting on the journey of weight loss and periods of extreme stress, holidays, and upcoming social events should be avoided.

Once you are ready to make that commitment, get rid of everything not suitable or part of your weight loss program, restock your fridge with healthy foods and allow time for exercise and relaxation. Weight loss and a plan to accomplish your goals will have to take priority over everything else in your life and your lifestyle needs to be adjusted to accommodate these changes

Create a picture in your mind of positive images and improvements these changes can bring about and to re-enforce the desire to be slim and fabulous.

The right attitude will go a long way when temptations and opportunities to cheat present themselves. Try to eliminate situations that are focused on food and entertainment. Do not indulge in images of your favorite foods or allow yourself too many choices. Focus on the chosen plan, prepare the right foods and the right portions ahead of time, and stick with it.

How to Overcome a Weight Loss Plateau

After following a diet plan and successfully losing some of the extra weight there will most likely come a time when the weight stays the same despite following the diet and exercise plan. This is referred to as a weight loss plateau.

This may happen any time between the eighteen-to-twenty-four-week period and is often the cause for frustration and abandoning the weight loss plan altogether.

Starving yourself at this point is counterproductive and an increase in physical activity and a temporary change in eating habits may be all that’s needed. Here are the basic principles important to overcome the weight loss plateau.

  1. Continue with adequate water intake
  2. Watch your salt consumption – too much will cause fluid retention
  3. Eat at least 20g of protein two to three times a day
  4. Eat at least 30g of fiber
  5. Eat slow – chew well
  6. Real food is better than prepared alternatives

In addition, you can practise intermittent fasting – no food or drinks (except water) for at least 16 hours. If dinner is at 6 pm, do not eat until 10am the following day.

Spirit, Mind and Matter

The current world view is that everything is made of matter, and everything can be reduced to the elementary particles of matter, the basic constituents and building blocks.

All philosophers are said to fall into one of the two primary categories, which are defined in contrast to

each other – idealism and materialism. The basic proposition of these two categories pertains to the nature of reality, and the primary distinction between them is the way they answer two fundamental questions – what does reality consist of and how does it originate? To idealists, spirit and mind is primary, and created matter secondary. To materialists, matter is primary and mind or spirit secondary, a product of matter acting upon matter.

The only reality seen is our material world is generally regarded as mechanistic in nature. A mechanism is a system of operation where the parts are mathematically connected to other parts, and their mutual operation in collaboration also is mathematically constituted.

A giant robot or any other kind of industrial mechanism is an example before us. We can precisely predict how the machinery works by the study of its parts and the whole can be a study of the parts. The opposite view is that everything starts with consciousness.

This view does not deny that matter also has causal potency – it does not deny that there is causal power from elementary particles upward, but in addition it insists that there is also downward causation. It shows up in our creativity and acts of free will, or when we make moral decisions.

What is Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a trance-like mental state in which people experience heightened   focus, concentration, and suggestibility. It is often described as a sleep-like state but in reality it is a state of increased attention and hyper-awareness.

Obesity – A Status Symbol

There was a time, when extra weight and obesity was considered a sign of prosperity in men and a sign of beauty and attractiveness in women. This may date back to Neolithic times when for the first time in the history of culture, humans began to own property, domestic animals, agricultural

land, houses, pottery and metal tools. Before that obesity was almost non-existent, and still is in all wild animals and most primitive races.

Today’s high obesity rates are common among most civilized races, due to the changes in our activity levels towards a more sedentary lifestyle and our food supply being highly processed and otherwise manipulated. Wherever abnormal fat was regarded as an asset, sexual selection was driving the trend and the desire to fit the model of beauty and grace.

It is only in very recent times that obesity has lost some of its allure, although the trend of oversized breasts and buttocks – which is always a sign of latent obesity – shows that the trend still lingers on. These unhealthy fat deposits do not promote health and wellness and while there are great variations in the severity of obesity it has recently lost its appeal as a status symbol and has now developed in a worldwide obesity crisis.

The Key to Female Weight Loss

Loosing weight is difficult to say the least. What makes the difference between men and women is that women have to deal with hormonal imbalances on top of it.  There is a way to take advantage of this hormonal factor and to help you create the best body shape for your current body proportions,

regardless of your present weight. The hormone levels that sets women apart from men are the same hormones that allow women to take advantage of the excess levels and are uniquely relevant for giving you the body shape and size desired. Especially after childbirth, some women find it extremely difficult to get rid of the extra pounds accumulated during pregnancy and are finding themselves emotionally depressed and frustrated.  After trying everything on the market from low fat, low carb and low calories.

Science has discovered that the metabolism of Weight Loss in women is controlled by two specific hormones  and these hormones make all the difference between a healthy weight and a slow metabolism resulting in extra weight gain in women.

For women, hormone balance involves two hormones: progesterone and estrogen. When both of these hormones are produced in adequate levels, the body will run optimally, otherwise it can interfere with the ability to maintain a healthy weight.

Estrogen regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. If your estrogen levels are low, it can result in weight gain. Many women also notice an increase in belly fat as they get older even if they are not gaining weight, this is likely due to a decreasing level of estrogen, which appears to influence where fat is distributed in the body
